Shirei David - שירי דוד

 This tune for El Adon comes from the famous Ashkenazi song "The little bird is calling" and has been adapted dozens of times to other songs. In fact, I'm not so sure that's the original song of the tune. But it is gorgeous and very well loved by the congregants and listeners. In case you are looking to match it with another song, the maqam is SAHLI.

This song is the Hebrew version of the famous Arabic song "Omri Na" composed by the late Sami El Maghrebi. The words are beautiful and the maqam is Nahawand (similar to Sahli). The tune can be sung for Kadish or Kedusha.

This song is of the most popular songs attributed to the Abuhatzeira dynasty, written by the famed Rabbi Yisrael Abuhatzeira, also known as the Baba Sali. The maqam is sahli and is quite easy to learn In this recording I adapt the Kadish to the tune as well. This tune can fit in any other quatrain song or part of Tefila such as: Ki Eshmera Shabbat Yoducha Rayonai El Adon Yigdal Lecha Dodi

This fast paced song composed by Rabbi David Bouzaglo has the same tune to Lo HaKochot which he composed after Israel's victory in the Six Day War (to be recorded at a later time). It's a catchy song that can be learned with some review. This tune goes very well with Rau Banim. The maqam is Sahli.

In honour of Avraham Avinu and Parashat Lech Lecha, here I present to you the song "Kochav Tzedek" (A Righteous Star) written by the famous Moroccan Poet, Rabbi David Bouzaglo. The song describes the life and accomplishments of our forefather, Avraham. I love to sing this song during the Parashiyot which speak about Avraham in great detail i.e. Lech Lecha and Vayera. At the end of the recording, I use the tune to the words of Kadish. A good choice of melody for this coming week and beyond. This quatrain can be applied to many Tefilot and goes specifically well with: Lecha Dodi Yigdal Maqam is SAHLI.
