In honour of Parashat Yitro, the parasha where we read the Ten Commandments, I present to you two famous songs that we sing in honour of the Torah. These two songs are of the same maqam (sika) and compliment each other nicely. I sing them to many parts of the tefila. They fit with almost everything. In addition, these are great songs to sing at a Bar Mitzvah or at the Shabbat table.

This is a simple song composed by Rabbi David Bouzaglo about David HaMelech. It's in maqam sika and I love to use it throughout the Tefila. Try it out for: Kadish Shavat Aniyim Rau banim

Rabbi Yehuda HaLevi was known for his beautiful poetry and Yedidi HaShachahta takes the cake. This song is sung by Sepharadim around the world, no matter the background. I will argue that its tune became famous after Jo Amar z''l put it on a track. It became an instant hit in Israel. The song has a beautiful Spanish twist to it and like many other Spanish melodies, the makam Bayat or Sika (spaniol).
