Sephardic communities around the world have the custom to sing the Haftara on the 8th day of Pesah in Hebrew and in the language of their mother tongue. I grew up learning it in Old Spanish or Castellano. Here it is for your pleasure.

It is custom to recite En Kelohenu in this tune during the 3 regalim. Some do it every Shabbat. In our synagogue in Toronto, it is sung over the 3 regalim but during the weeks of Pirke Avot, we sing it as well in 3 different languages. I have recorded it in all three languages in this recording. Enjoy!

This song is sung prior to the recital of Sefirat Ha'omer on the 2nd night of Pesah. I usually adapt this tune to the Kadish of that night. The maqam is mzmoum or Rasd Dil.

This tikun is sang right before Musaf on the 1st day of Pesah. Until Shemini Atzeret, we will be reciting Morid HaTal in place of Mashiv Haruah. It's certainly a highlight of the holiday. In this video, I sing "Leshoni Konanta" in both the French Moroccan tune and the Spanish Moroccan tune. Enjoy!

During the holidays, there is no "Spanish" tune for the haftarot. Even the Spanish Moroccans recite the haftarot in the French tune. FIRST DAY (note: after the first pasuk in Perek 6 is recited, scroll down to the last verse in Perek 6. That is the final pasuk in the haftara. I did not scroll down for it in the recording.) This melody is the same as the piyut "Ani Letzur Geoni" sung on Shemini Atzeret. It's hugely popular and can be adapted to many parts of Tefila.

This song has two versions to it; French and Spanish. The French sing it like the song "El Eretz Azuva" found in Bakashot Vayehi, "Asader Tushbahta" on Sukkot and "Hachamai Uzkenai" on Shavuot. The Spanish have a more traditional melody to it and they also apply it to the above songs. Here are both versions. FRENCH SPANISH

This tune is also sung to the piyut "Nirdi Natan Reho" on Shavuot or Simhat Tora, as well as "El Ram" for the Bakashot of Vayehi. I like to sing this tune on Pesah for: Yigdal (first night) Kedusha

Despite the trials and stress leading up to the holiday, there's almost no better feeling when you sit around the table with you family celebrating the Pesah Seder. The Moroccan tradition of singing "Bivhilu" and the other glorious songs, make our feast one of the best in the world. Here is the most of the Hagada recorded for you to learn at your convenience. I omitted any section that had to do with Shabbat, so please take note. The songs found in the section of Nirtza and Shir Hashirim are also omitted.
